CONCEPT DESIGN:
Working direct with the client on this project there were several rounds of revision.
The client had a very specific vision for the room and it was critical to capture the picture they had painted in their mind.
A dense flock fabric, which performed for our acoustic design was selected by the client.
Simple vertical lines were chosen to create the look that they wanted.
LIGHTING & CONCEALMENT:
It was decided that all lighting would be indirect and hidden in shadow gap details to create the mood and ambience of the room.
The projector was housed in a 'motorised mirror mount' which removed noise and heat from the room while also allowing the clean simplistic design required.
All speakers, and subwoofers were hidden behind fabric panels, along with our stage 3 acoustic treatment which included absorbers, diffusers and bass traps to give the finest audio experience possible.
CHALLENGES:
With a curved wall along one side of the room, which created an almost L-shape, causing some challenges for speaker placement, and acoustic calculations.
Also the back wall dog-legged back towards the bar area, making it difficult to create the symetrical look the clients wanted.
We came up with solutions for the client which overcame these issues and gave them the 'look' that they wanted.
final RESULTS:
The acoustical perormance of this room was something to behold.
With the right treatments in the problem areas, and the use of four subwoofers in the room we were able to balance the whole cinema experience in all seating positions.
'Cross-firing' techniques were used to direct all speakers to a focused point at the centre of the mid point of all seating.
This drastically improved the speakers performance at higher frequencies, which helped deliver a consistent sound with clarifty, focus and huge dynamic power.
